This building is located in a rural setting on a sloping site. The existing cottage was remodelled, requiring some structural intervention, and an additional wing was constructed parallel to the existing building. The open plan design required use of steel portals for lateral stability and detailing was integrated into the architectural scheme to fulfil an energy efficient brief.
In addition to the structural design of the foundations and the superstructure, our brief included extension of the drainage system with connections to an existing septic tank.
